I love these curtains. They’re so soft and thick – the quality is evident. I have several photos here. My apartment faces east, so I get the sunrise, and super bright mornings until the sun is high enough in the sky that it’s not coming straight into my apartment.
So the first photo is of just my regular curtains closed, around 8am. These are not “sheer” curtains. They’re actually solid dark green/blue with a white coated back. When the sun hits, they are practically see-through. When I got these new curtains, I got double rods too, SO – second pic is left side Nicetown curtains closed OVER the regular curtains, and right side ONLY the Nicetown curtains closed. Next pic, I turned off the light so you can see better. So light is still coming through, with just the Nicetown curtains alone. But compared to the first pic, it is just about night and day. Next pic is both sides, both curtains closed. Total blackout, except the light coming from above and below. I did similar comparisons around 10am. The light comes through the Nicetown ones a little more at that hour when the daylight is less glowy and a little more bright white. Lastly, from the kitchen I took a shot where you can see one room with the curtains wide open and also the living room with the curtains closed. I think it looks darker in this one because of how bright the other side of the photo is. It’s not actually pitch black in the other room (it’s an open room and there’s a light on) – but the difference is still huge. SO! I will keep using my regular curtains when I just need to keep the sun from glaring in my eyes or off the screen. But if I want to have a horror movie marathon that begins at sunrise, now I can 🙂
I would recommend the double rods and a cheap set of regular curtains to go behind them if you want the light to be fully blacked out. And the higher and longer you have the curtains, the less the light will come in from the top and bottom.
Edit: the photos aren’t showing in the order I had added them, so first second and so on notes in the review are moot. They’re all jumbled, but you can figure out the timeline from the photo captions.

They completely black out the room—even during the brightest part of the day—and instantly made her space feel cooler in this summer heat. She’s sleeping better, the room looks stylish, and the temperature drop was noticeable right away.

Good blackout curtains with a solid true-black color. Lots of size and color options are available to fit different setups. For me, they block out about 99.9% of outside light — only a few tiny specs get through the weave, but it’s negligible. My setup also gets a pretty heavy dosage of direct sunlight.
The fabric is on the lighter side, so if you’ve got strong airflow or fans nearby, they can move around a bit. I’d recommend adding curtain weights or finding another solution to keep them steady. Overall, solid quality for the price.

Mannn… these blackout drapes are TRULY AWESOME!! I have another pair in the Mancave that I’ve had for years now. They were my first set of blackout drapes, and were really just a legend to me before that. I was like – (Curtains that can block out ALL light?? No WAYyyy!!) 🙄 Then one day my ex told me they sold them at a store where she worked. I was all excited and had her buy me a pair and paid her back.
They were kind of just plain clack canvas drapes… nothing special really; but I still hung them up and they worked GREAT!! But THESE DRAPES WERE ABOVE & BEYOND EVEN THAT. They actually have a slight sheen to them with a slightly satin-like finish; very cool!! I got the right size for my window and you can SEE the results in my photos.
Don’t ming me with the light still coming in from the center. I didn’t iron them before hanging them up, so they don’t hang down perfectly straight & even yet. I kind of like to let my hang & straighten themselves out after a few days. These FEEL & LOOK amazing, and I will definitely be buying more in the future as I expand into other rooms. 😎

Extremely efficient at blocking out the light but some light can sneak through the grommets at the top. The glow in the dark stars on my daughter’s ceiling still glow in the middle of the day. The sound from the road outside seems quieter, and it keeps the room cooler in the summer. The grommets are large enough to easily put on a curtain rod, and they slide smoothly to open and close the curtains. They are thick and heavy. I ordered the same brand for my living room because I liked the quality of the fabric.

Absolutely amazing. Works much better than expected. They are thick and let no light through at all. They block all of the heat and light much better than expected for the price. They are great quality and have sturdy well made rings. Honestly im impressed for this price i expected nothing close. Others I purchased were thin and blocked some of the light. Working overnight and sleeping during the day they werent exactly what I wanted. These are what I wanted to find. I even tried to put a hole in the bottom to hold it down with a screw it was tough to get the hole in because they are very durable and thick for the price. I bout two more sets for my other windows.

These work great. Nice and thick with a nice looking drape but not so heavy that they are difficult to use. Block everything so they actually are blackouts. I like them, they are better than what I replaced them with by far. Fabric has a nice look to it, as well as a nice feel. All stitching is also quality. I’m happy and would recommend these no hesitation.
